Music : Femi Kuti – Africa for Africa

Femi Kuti is and invidual worth admiring. His music and his political activism is one that can be compared to that of his father; the late Fela Kuti. This album touches on the present political and social state of Nigeria and still maintains a fun and entertaining vibe.
Some might even go as far as to say Femi has surpassed his father musically. But you be the judge.
The album can be purchased on iTunes

Here are artists Phantom and DJ Charlie B. who hail from Sierra Leone but live in Boston, US.
Now, I wonder how do you differentiate a record made ‘back home’ and one made by artists based ‘abroad’?
Can you spot the difference? Let me know.

Video : Bantu ft Nneka – I’m Waiting

I first heard about Ade Bantu (Bantu stands for Brotherhood Alliance Navigating Towards Unity) when the single ‘Nzobu’ hit airwaves in Nigeria sometime in 1999. Was a new and fresh sound as I recall with the merging of hip hop and afro-beat. This is off the soundtrack for the movie by Andy Okoroafor titled Relentless and has Bantu featuring the electro-pop sensation Nneka.
